Rostelecom equips over 900,000 households with broadband Internet
MOSCOW, Jun 7 (PRIME) -- Russian telecom operator Rostelecom laid more than 77,000 kilometers of optical fibers that enabled the company to equip over 900,000 households with the Internet, President Mikhail Oseyevsky told President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
Provision of broadband access to the Internet is one of Rostelecom’s strategies, Oseyevsky said.
Under Putin’s decree on national goals of development, 97% of the country’s households are to have broadband access to the Internet by 2030.
“Russia is actively moving toward the target, every year we add about 3%, and, on the whole, the goal you’ve set in the decree will be reached,” Rostelecom’s head said.
